Who am I, and why am I doing this?

My name is Jeremy Toffle, and I am a board certified Pediatrician. I am married with two children, both boys, whom I love dearly. Like most parents, I probably spend more time worrying about how I screwed up in my day as a dad than the growth I accomplished from those failures. I feel like dads in particular have an even harder time opening up to these situations. I hope to remedy this by discussing my failures and viewing them from the perspective of “Dad” and “Pediatrician.” I feel that my medical background helps me take more than one vantage point on this.

Through my posts I hope to help others who struggle with growing from their sense of failure as parents – especially dads. We can not fully evolve without first admitting we are not perfect. We are imperfect creatures meant to fail and become stronger from that failure. I hope we are all willing to embrace imperfection and know that to be imperfect is not the same as being a bad parent. Imperfection is what it means to be human.
